DAN WALKER was born in Washington, D.C., on August 6, 1922. Walker graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1945 and from Northwestern Law School in 1950. He graduated with honors from Carroll College in 1969. Walker was on active duty in the U.S. Navy 1940-41, 1945-47, and 1951. He served as the Deputy Chief Commissioner in the United States Court of Military Appeals from 1951-52. In 1952, Walker was the administrative aide to Governor Adlai E. Stevenson. He served as the Secretary of the Illinois Public Aid Commission in 1962 and the was its acting chair in 1964. During his tenure, Governor Walker served on the National Governors' Conference Executive Committee.
