Died on April 27 2010, in her 89th year, from Lymphona, at her home, with her family. Born July 4th 1920 to Barnett and Dora Kaplan. Married 1943 to Martin Shapiro and had two children, Robert (Jacqueline) and Daniel (Lynne). In 1958 married Gerard Oestreicher and was a wonderful stepmother to his three children, Lee (Alejandra), Lynn (Noel Jeffrey), and Laurie (Larry Lowenstein). Adored her grandchildren, Holiday Shapiro (Robyn Linde), Brett Haussamen (Jim Sabo), Gerard Jeffrey, Jay Lowenstein (Jayme), Victoria Shapiro (Jon Forsberg), Abi Shapiro, and Caitlin Shapiro (Rowan Gay). Found renewed joy in her great-grandchildren, Evan, Sophie, Kara, and Ava. In later life she was grateful for the companionship of Dan Rodgers. She is survived by her brother Bill Kaplan (Anita). She was raised (forever proud) in Brooklyn, graduated Erasmus High School and Hunter College. She lived in New Rochelle and in 1958 moved to Manhattan (her true home). Her second husband, Gerard Oestreicher, was the chairman of Oestreicher Realty and a Broadway producer. He died in 1987. Irma became a Broadway angel and then a producer in her own right. She produced "Cantorial", "Mademoiselle Colombe", and co-produced "Long Day's Journey Into Night" for which she received a Tony nomination. She was a director of the American Theatre Hall of Fame.
