COLETTE SAMMAN Deputy Commissioner, IDNYC Colette Samman, LCSW, currently serves as Deputy Commissioner of IDNYC, New York City’s official municipal identification card program. She was an integral part of IDNYC’s launch, and over the past four years, has presided over its growth as more than 1.2 million New Yorkers now have their very own IDNYC. She has also led IDNYC’s continuous focus on increasing the card’s functionality and accessibility, fulfilling its promise as the one card for all New Yorkers. Prior to joining City government, Colette worked in the non-profit sector, most recently as an Assistant Vice President of Behavioral Health at Palladia, Inc., and has 15 years of experience working closely with people facing homelessness or who have been in contact with the criminal justice system. She has also taught as an adjunct professor at the Hunter College School of Social Work and at the Columbia College School of Social Work. Colette has lived many years abroad, particularly in Central American and Australia.
