KARL STEINACKER Hub Manager, UNHCR’s Global Service Centre In UN City Mr. Karl Steinacker worked since 1992 for UNHCR in various positions mainly in Africa (lately as Representative in Niger) and at Headquarters in the areas of change management, refugee registration, and information management. Mr. Steinacker is currently Hub Manager for UNHCR' Global Service Centre in UN City Copenhagen, and Deputy Director for UNHCR's Division of Programme Support and Management. In his long career with UNHCR Mr. Steinacker has served as a Programme Officer in Sudan (1992-94), Senior Programme Officer in Tanzania (1994-96) and Mali (1996-98), Change Management Officer in Geneva/Switzerland (1998-2002), Head of Sub-Office in Sierra Leone (2002-04), Chief of Field Information and Coordination Support Section in Geneva/Switzerland (2004-08), Coordinator for Eastern Congo in DRC (2008-10), Deputy Director of Division of External Relations, Geneva/Switzerland (2010-12) and UNHCR Representative in Niger (2012-16). Mr. Steinacker has also worked for DPKO, UNRWA, UNDP and with international development agencies in Germany. Mr. Steinacker holds a diploma in Political Science from Freie Universität Berlin in Germany and a diploma in Public International Law from Cambridge University in the UK.
