David P. López, Ed.D. Executive Director, The Center for Latino Education and Innovation David P. López Dr. David P. López is the executive director of The Center for Latino Education and Innovation. The Center, under the auspices of The Foundation for Hispanic Education and through a strong alliance of public and private partners (e.g., Santa Clara University), serves as the educational architect for building an effective pre-kindergarten-to-college "pipeline" for Latino students and their parents. Dr. López brings more than 35 years of experience in preschool to higher education to the role as he continues to work to expand access to affordable, quality education for Latinos and other underserved students. Prior to his current role, he served as The National Hispanic University's President and Chancellor from 2003-2013. Dr. López was twice appointed to the California State Board of Education and also served on the California Postsecondary Education Commission. Locally, he serves on the board of directors of the Silicon Valley Children's Fund. In 2014, he received the California Association of Latino Superintendents and Administrators 1st Annual Trail Blazer Award, as well as the American Association of Hispanics in Higher Education Alfredo G. De Los Santos, Jr. Distinguished Leadership Award in Higher Education. He earned his Doctor of Education with a concentration in curriculum and instruction at New Mexico State University. He earned a master’s degree in educational administration at New Mexico Highlands University and his B.A. in elementary education from the University of New Mexico.
