Senator Mike Michot serves as Senior Director of State Affairs with The Picard Group. Senator Michot represented the Acadiana area in the Louisiana Legislature for sixteen years, retiring in 2012. Senator Michot was elected to the Senate in 2000 after serving in the Louisiana House of Representatives for one full term. In his final term in the State Senate, Michot served as Chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, making him one of two Legislative architects charged with the construction of the State’s $28 billion annual appropriation’s bill, funding all aspects of state government. Senator Michot also served as Chairman of the Joint Legislative Committee on the Budget for two years. He is also a real estate developer, and has been active in community service organizations, including the American Heart Association, Boys & Girls Clubs of Acadiana, United Way and the Catholic Diocese of Lafayette’s Opus Christi Magnum fundraiser. He currently is a member of the Kiwanis Club of Lafayette and the US Chamber of Commerce and serves as a Board Member for Community Foundation of Acadiana and Lourdes Foundation. He graduated from Cathedral-Carmel High School in Lafayette and holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Louisiana Lafayette (ULL). Senator Michot is a graduate of Leadership Lafayette and Leadership Louisiana. He has received various awards for his public and community service including Legis-Gator of the Year, Business Champion, Distinguished Citizen and the Bishop’s Medal. Senator Michot currently resides in Lafayette and is married to Monique Broussard Michot. He is the father of two children, Michael Jr. and Mary Carolyn.
