Donald R. Sweitzer is the chairman of IGT Global Solutions, a leading gaming and technology manufacturing company. He was formerly the senior vice president of global business development and public affairs for GTECH where he oversaw worldwide business development, government relations and public relations. Mr. Sweitzer is a trustee of the Providence Performing Arts Center in Providence, Rhode Island. He is the former president of the Dorset Resource & Strategy Group, a public affairs company in Washington, D.C. He also served as the managing partner of a political consulting firm, Politics, Inc., a Kamber Company. In 1993 and 1994, Mr. Sweitzer was the political director of the Democratic National Committee during the first term of former President Bill Clinton. From 1985-89, Mr. Sweitzer served as the finance director of the Democratic National Committee. Prior to that, he worked in the U.S. Senate as a special assistant to Senator Howard M. Metzenbaum (D-OH). He is the former national legislative director of the Brotherhood of Railway Clerks, AFL-CIO, now affiliated with the International Association of Machinists. He served in the 1980 presidential campaign of Senator Edward M. Kennedy. Mr. Sweitzer has been a frequent political commentator on CNN’s Crossfire and other nationally syndicated programs. He has lectured on politics and political campaigns at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University, Northwestern University in Chicago, Kent State University in Ohio and American University in Washington, D.C.
