Kathleen Rice Mosier Counsel Kathleen Rice Mosier provides legal counsel to corporate clients on issues relating to privacy, data security, risk management, and compliance with applicable laws and regulations. A member of the privacy and cybersecurity practice and white collar defense and investigations practice, Kathleen helps businesses prepare for and respond to privacy and security incidents, address notification obligations, and resolve any related investigations or inquiries. She also counsels clients in identifying and resolving potential compliance issues relating to federal laws, regulations and industry standards. She is also an assistant adjunct professor at Notre Dame Law School, where she teaches a course on Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) enforcement and compliance, and is a member of the Indiana University Cybersecurity Advisory Council. U.S. Senate Select Committee on Intelligence Before joining Faegre Baker Daniels, Kathleen spent nearly 20 years in law enforcement, intelligence and government affairs. Her experience included serving as Counsel on the U.S. Senate Select Committee on Intelligence — the Senate Committee responsible for oversight of the 17 federal agencies and offices in the U.S. Intelligence Community. Kathleen provided legal and policy advice to members of Congress on a wide range of national security matters, including cybersecurity, surveillance, data collection and privacy. Kathleen was the lead negotiator on cybersecurity information sharing legislation in the U.S. Senate during the 112th and 113th Congresses and was heavily involved in the passage of legislation relating to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) and the USA PATRIOT Act. Throughout her tenure on the committee, Kathleen appeared on numerous panels before legislative, business and privacy groups as well as industry representatives to discuss the impact of potential legislation. FBI Undercover Operations Kathleen also served as an Assistant General Counsel at the Federal Bureau of Investigation, overseeing all legal aspects of the FBI's counterterrorism, counterintelligence and cyber undercover operations and serving as a trial advocacy instructor for incoming agents at the FBI Academy and as a legal instructor at the FBI's undercover schools. During Kathleen's five years as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Southern District of Florida, she prosecuted a variety of federal offenses, including narcotics, violent crime, fraud, money laundering and child pornography. She also served as the computer crimes/child pornography coordinator.
