The Pennsylvania State University. Dr. Spanier received Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees from Iowa State University and a Ph.D. from Northwestern University, where he was a Woodrow Wilson Fellow. Dr. Spanier was appointed President of the Pennsylvania State University in 1995. Prior to that appointment, he served as Chancellor of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at Oregon State University and Vice Provost for Undergraduate Studies at the State University of New York-Stony Brook. Dr. Spanier is a director of Citizens Financial Group, Inc. He also serves as Chair of the Association of American Universities, Chair of the National Security Higher Education Advisory Board, a member of the National Counterintelligence Working Group and a member of the Board of Advisors of the Naval Postgraduate School.
