BEARA, LLC is a private equity investor and advisory services company founded by Joseph E. Driscoll, who is the managing partner of the company. BEARA was formed to arrange and lead the finance, acquisition and strategic management of highly specialized companies with strong cash flows, operating under challenging circumstances, including situations such as customer and contract concentration, impaired reputations, challenging market perceptions or poorly understood markets, asset underutilization, or at key inflection points – all while taking a value-oriented approach and building a business plan upon highly defensible core business strengths. This strategy is exemplified by BEARA’s 2006 acquisition of Boston Ship Repair and PennShip Service, large ship repair yards providing drydocking, overhaul and restoration services to U.S. government military transport ships, cruise ships and commercial ships. Mr. Driscoll created a business plan that doubled revenues and company assets, and tripled net income. Mr. Driscoll helped strengthen and broaden the company’s customer relationships and rehabilitated the company’s reputation. At the end of 2008, Mr. Driscoll sold Boston Ship Repair and PennShip Service to Atlantic Marine and JF Lehman & Company. As a result of the sale, Mr. Driscoll produced over a 100% annual IRR for investors. In 2004, Joseph Driscoll was the Democratic Congressional Nominee for Pennsylvania’s 15th Congressional District, running as a centrist and drawing upon the support of party leaders nationwide. Mr. Driscoll received his B.A. from Harvard College ('87), and his M.B.A. from Harvard Business School ('98).
