Bill Brownell joined SV2 in 2012, was elected to the Board in 2013, and became the Board Chair in 2015. He leads the Executive Committee of the Board and has co-led the SV2 Strategic Plan development, the impact investing working group and served as a CEO Advisor to several SV2 grantees. He is committed to social sector innovation and community impact. He also serves several other Boards including Social Venture Partners International, The Nature Conservancy, the Stanford ACT Program, and Pasturemap Inc. Bill’s primary career experience has been in the technology sector, where he was Senior Vice President at Cisco Systems and Hewlett Packard, in various roles covering strategy, product marketing, and business development. He was also Vice President and Director at the Boston Consulting Group, where he served clients in technology, energy, and communications sectors. Bill has a BA from Stanford University in Economics and Political Science with Distinction, an MPP from Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government, and an MBA from Stanford University, where he was an Arjay Miller Scholar. In his free time, Bill enjoys family time, travel adventures, triathlons, surfing, backpacking, and rooting for Stanford sports teams.
