Mark George Ricks, 92, of Rexburg, passed away Thursday, September 29, 2016 in his hometown of Rexburg, Idaho due to natural causes. Mark was born July 4, 1924 in Rexburg, Idaho to Peter Jeppesen Ricks and Emily Elizabeth Arnold Ricks. He attended Cedar Point Grade School, Madison Jr. High, and graduated from Madison High School, where he played on the football team. He continued his education at Ricks College, played on the basketball team, and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree. On August 9, 1944, he married his sweetheart, Evelyn Tonks, in the Logan LDS Temple; they were blessed with 2 daughters and 7 sons. He served as a State Senator in the Idaho State Legislature for 16 years and served as Idaho Lieutenant Governor for 6 months. He is survived by his daughters, Adele (Rocky) Nielsen, of Brigham City, Utah, Kathie (Kermit) Tensmeyer, of Carrollton, Texas, daughter-in-law Alysia Ricks, of Layton, Utah; sons Michael T. (Derena) Ricks, of Rexburg, Idaho, Alan Dee (Samantha) Ricks, of Clayton, California, Glen Leon (Valarie) Ricks of Lindon, Utah, Grant Howard (Camille) Ricks, of Rexburg, Idaho, Douglas T. (Melissa) Ricks; brothers-in-law, Ralph Weatherston, of Rexburg, Idaho, Harvey Fletcher of Provo, Utah; 50 grandchildren 79 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Emily Ricks; wife, Evelyn Ricks; sons, Gary Mark Ricks and Merle Kay Ricks; 1 grandson; 1 great-grandson; and his siblings, Peter Jeppesen (June) Ricks Jr., Lavere Arnold (Lucille) Ricks, Rudger Vernon (Larua) Ricks, Joseph Arnold Ricks, Mary Vivian (William Delore) Atkinson, Beula (Gwyllam) Blaser, and Lorene (Frank) Jenkins.
