Weir said moving to Nevada from Danville, Calif., in 1965 to play baseball changed his life. His parents followed him to Northern Nevada and bought Reno’s Dodge dealership in 1965. After Weir, a right-handed pitcher who threw in the 90s, signed a professional contract with the Royals, playing one season in Class A, he returned to Reno. He became the general manager of Reno Dodge in 1983 and the owner in 1991.
