Robert Cummins is President and CEO of Primera Technology Inc. He has been active in conservative state politics for more than 20 years, founding the 501(c)(4) organization Freedom Club and donating to numerous conservative candidates and causes, including Representative Gil Gutknecht. Robert Cummins started two businesses. In 1974, he founded Fargo Electronics, a company that produced photo identification printers, and in 1998, he founded Primera Technology Inc., a company that produces machines that print and duplicate items like DVDs. Cummins has supported numerous conservative political candidates as an individual donor as well. From 1997 to 2006, he donated over $25,000 to Minnesota Representative Gil Gutknecht and from 2006 to 2011, he donated $865,000 to Minnesota House Republicans, according to MPR News. Cummins also contributes to social conservative organizations, including Minnesota for Marriage, a coalition that supports the Minnesota Marriage Amendment which would ban same-sex marriage. He donated a total of $128,130 to the organization between 2005 and 2006. In 2001, Cummins donated $20 million to fund the creation of a private school in Plymouth, Minn., called Providence Academy, and contributed many ideas for the design and structure of the school. He also founded a political consulting firm called Civis Communications in 2010. The organization’s main focus is addressing voter identification issues.
