Jerry Gottesman died January 21, 2016, after a long battle with cancer. Born in Haifa, Israel, to Miriam and Leo Gottesman, both Holocaust survivors, Jerry began a life in Brooklyn at the age of 6 when his parents immigrated to the US. After completing a Bachelor’s Degree in History from Brooklyn College, Jerry attended the University of Toledo Law School and later the South Texas School of Law where he received his Juris Doctor degree in Law. Jerry Gottesman, a practicing lawyer in Houston for over 25 years, was a quiet, internal man who loved to observe, think, and analyze. An avid reader and aficionado of history, Jerry enjoyed traveling and exploring the world. His passion for chess led him to become an International Chess Master. Most important to him, though, was being together with his family. Jerry will be truly missed, but remembered with a smile. Jerry leaves behind his loving family, Linda Goldstein, his wife of 33 years, and Shoshi and Michael, their children; Miriam Gottesman, his mother; and Joseph and Esti Gottesman, his brother and sister.
