With a long and distinguished record working with the US Senate and House appropriations committees, Elizabeth Morra is a federal funding all-star. With her communications and policy savoir-faire and the relationships to get things done, she leads the Podesta Group’s appropriations practice. Among her many achievements, she is particularly proud that, over the course of nine years of sound, strategic work, she has helped win $44 million in much needed federal funding to help children and their families in need of medical care in the national capital region. Before joining the Podesta Group, Elizabeth served as the first communications director for the House Appropriations Committee under former Chairmen, the Honorable Bob Livingston (R-LA) and the Honorable C. W. Bill Young (R-FL). She also served as spokeswoman for ranking member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, Thad Cochran (R-MS), during his term as chairman of the Senate Republican Conference. While working on Capitol Hill, she was named one of Roll Call’s “Fabulous Fifty Staffers.” In addition to her profound understanding of the appropriations process, Elizabeth offers clients public affairs expertise, having previously spent some time behind the news desk as a local TV reporter and anchor in Georgia. A native Georgian who has brought a little bit of that Southern charm to Washington, DC, Elizabeth has a bachelor's in journalism from the University of Georgia.
