Jane Fearer Safer has been a consultant to museums and performing arts organizations in the United States and Europe. Among those she has worked with are: the Andrei Sakharov Museum in Moscow, the National Museum of Hungary, the Kunstkammer in St. Petersberg, arts managers in Tbilisi, Georgia. She was Executive Director of Anthology Film Archives and of Survival International (USA) and held senior positions at the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs and at the New York Hall of Science. She is currently a board member of the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian (NYC). She is a former trustee of the New York Hall of Science (1995-2014) , CEC Artslink and the Arts and Business Council. She served on the NYC Cultural Affairs Advisory Commission and as Advisor to the Fund for Arts and Culture in Central and Eastern Europe. She received a BA from Harvard/Radcliffe and a graduate degree in Social Anthropology from Oxford University.
