Liz Robbins was founder of the country's first woman-owned lobbying firm. She was married to Doug Johnson , a former Emmy-winning news reporter for WABC-TV New York. They shared a 2-acre estate in East Hampton New York, which has been listed for sale in 2024. Robbins was best known for her work on behalf of social policies, like children’s health care and poverty reduction, and nonprofits like the Whitney Museum of American Art and the Authors Guild. Elizabeth Jane Robbins was born on July 8, 1946, in an elevator at New York Hospital. Her father, Manuel Robbins, was a lawyer who worked for a variety of city agencies. Her mother, Eleanor (Landau) Robbins, worked in communications for the American Red Cross. Liz grew up in Scarsdale, N.Y., studied philosophy at Wheaton College, outside of Boston, and graduated in 1968. Along with her husband, she was survived by her daughter, Robin Johnson Tokley, and a grandson.
