On July Dechert LLP announced the resignation today of Arthur R.G. Solmssen, Jr. from the partnership. Solmssen is leaving to become head of the Crosby Family Office and the Crosby Company of New Hampshire. Crosby was created by the Johnson family and is based in Salem, New Hampshire. Solmssen has been a partner of Dechert LLP since 2000 and will assume his new role in September. A leader in the firm’s Private Client group, Solmssen has worked for more than 20 years in the areas of U.S. and international estate planning, estate administration, and estate and trust litigation. In his new position, Solmssen will coordinate the interests of the Johnson family, which include investments in a global financial services business, a trust company, venture capital, private equity, real estate, public securities, significant charitable organizations, and art and antiquities. He will work with the senior leaders of these platforms at Crosby to carry out the goals of the Johnson family and to assist with the development of the family's strategic planning. A graduate of Harvard College (A.B., 1985) and the University of Pennsylvania Law School, (J.D., 1989), Solmssen joined Dechert in 1993 after several years as a trial lawyer with the Defender Association of Philadelphia.
