Laurel Call began her insurance career in 1983 at the Ohio Department of Insurance. In 1984 she became Assistant Commissioner. Laurel received her undergraduate degree from Ohio University and her law degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Law. Before joining Assurant, Laurel also served as Assistant Attorney General of Ohio, and later practiced in two law firms – becoming partner at Schottenstein, Zox and Dunn. In 2002, she joined Assurant as Vice President and Senior Counsel, Legal. In 2003, she assumed management of the Government Relations division of Assurant Health, having responsibility for both state and federal operations. Currently Laurel is responsible for federal policy and legislation. She is a board member of the Assurant Health Foundation, the Coalition for Affordable Health Coverage, the Congressional Award Foundation, and the National Association of Health Underwriters Education Foundation.
