Dr. John Thorne is a senior policy advisor with Crowell & Moring's Public Policy Practice Group. He represents clients on both the political and technical aspects of a wide range of regulatory issues related to agribusiness and the environment. In this work he is also engaged with Crowell & Moring attorneys on tort, government contract, and regulatory policy matters. Prior to his work in Washington, D.C., John was a scientist and research manager in agribusiness. In 1973 he was named Director of Research for the Jacklin Seed Company, now part of J. R. Simplot. From 1976 to 1980, he conducted research at the Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station in New Haven, CT. In 1980, he joined DuPont 's life sciences effort as research scientist, and later, Group Leader, where he was engaged in a number of research program areas and published extensively in the scientific literature. In 1993, John founded Capitolink, a legislative and regulatory consulting firm. Capitolink was acquired by Crowell & Moring in 2004.
