Kyriakos Tsakopoulos is president and CEO of AKT Development Corporation and AKT Investments Inc. (AKT), a diversified, family-owned, land company headquartered in Sacramento, California, operating real estate, farming, ranching, water, minerals, building, and land development projects throughout North/Central California. A Sacramento, California, native, Mr. Tsakopoulos has been active in AKT his whole life. Prior to becoming president and CEO, he reorganized all AKT holdings, projects, and operations in Placer County, California, including the entitlement and donation of 1,100 acres of land to attract and fund the building of the first major private four-year university in California in 100 years. In addition, Mr. Tsakopoulos is active in regional, national, and international civic affairs and educational policy. He is a member of the Board of Trustees of Columbia University, having previously served on the Columbia College Board of Visitors. He is a trustee emeritus of the California State University System, chairman emeritus of the University of California, Davis, M.I.N.D. Research Institute, and serves on other public service boards and commissions. He was a California elector in the Electoral College of the United States in 2004 and is an Archon/Knight Commander of the Holy Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople. In 2008, he was selected by the World Economic Forum, Davos, Switzerland, to be a member of the Forum of Young Global Leaders. Mr. Tsakopoulos rowed Varsity Eights at Columbia, both as a heavyweight and a lightweight, where he later founded the “Aristotle and the Moderns Chair” in Hellenic Studies.
