Tani Cantil-Sakauye is California’s 28th chief justice and chair of the Judicial Council of California and the Commission on Judicial Appointments. Before becoming chief justice, she worked in the state’s trial and appellate courts for more than two decades. In 2010, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger nominated Cantil-Sakauye for the position of chief justice, and voters elected her in November of that year.
