Lewis Landsberg

From 1999 to 2007, Landsberg served as dean of the Feinberg School and recruited nationally recognized leaders and researchers to Northwestern. From 1990 to 1999, he chaired the department of medicine. Landsberg is known nationally and internationally for his research in catecholamines and the sympathoadrenal system, dietary intake and the sympathetic nervous system, and hypertension and obesity. He has a national reputation as an expert in pheochromocytoma. As a result of his research, he has more than 220 publications in professional journals and chairs the Board of Management of The Journal of Hypertension, the official publication of the International Society of Hypertension. Landsberg is a member of several prestigious societies including the American Association of Physicians, the American Society of Clinical Investigation and the Scientific Council of the International Society of Hypertension. Before joining the Northwestern faculty in 1990, Landsberg served on the medical school faculties of Yale and Harvard universities.
