PERRY E. KNIGHT is an associate in the firm’s Washington, D.C., office. She focuses her practice primarily on healthcare regulatory issues. Ms. Knight represents pharmaceutical manufacturers, medical device companies, academic medical centers, coalitions, professional societies, and others in regulatory, legislative, and strategic matters relating to healthcare coverage and reimbursement. Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Knight worked for a non-profit coalition of disproportionate share hospitals. As the Director of Legal and Regulatory Affairs, she focused on regulatory and legislative issues relating to federal drug pricing programs, in particular the 340B Drug Pricing Program. She represented member hospitals before Congress, the Health Resources Services Administration, and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and provided counseling to coalition members on a variety of other topics including Medicaid, Medicare Part D, and Pharmaceutical Manufacturers’ Patient Assistance Programs. Ms. Knight also has extensive experience in the healthcare industry related to prescription drug coding, billing, and reimbursement. Ms. Knight worked for a large university-based teaching hospitals as the Reimbursement and Compliance Manager for the Department of Pharmacy where she was responsible for developing appropriate coding, billing, and reimbursement systems for the inpatient units, outpatient ancillary clinics, and outpatient retail pharmacies. Ms. Knight worked with the hospital’s Pharmacy and Therapeutics committee, the affiliated faculty practice plan, and various other multi-disciplinary committees to ensure appropriate utilization and reimbursement for approved prescription drugs. Ms. Knight also developed one of the country’s first hospital-based programs utilizing pharmaceutical manufacturers’ Patient Assistance Programs to assist the hospital’s needy patients. Ms. Knight graduated from the University of North Carolina School of Law in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. She received a Masters in Health care Administration from the University of North Carolina School of Public Health and a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Ms. Knight has been invited to speak to national audiences of pharmaceutical manufacturers, safety-net providers, and Federal grantees on issues related to Patient Assistance Programs, Medicare Part D, and safety net financing.
