He earned five degrees: a Bachelor of Science degree (B.S.) in mathematics and a Master of Science degree (M.S.) in physics both from Virginia State University; a Master of Science degree (M.S.) in materials science from the University of Rochester; a Juris Doctor degree (J.D.) from Cleveland State University; and a Master of Laws degree (LL.M.) in Patent and Trade Regulation law from the National Law Center of The George Washington University. During his distinguished career, Clyde served as Patent Counsel for Eastman Kodak Company of Rochester, New York. Prior to Kodak, Clyde was a practicing attorney with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) in the legal areas of intellectual property, space commercialization and equal employment. Those experiences were buttressed by service as Congressional staff attorney for Congressman Louis Stokes (Ohio), Senior Engineer and Physicist at the Xerox Corporation, Rochester, NY, Technical Leader at General Electric Company, Cleveland, OH, and an Adjunct Professor of mathematics, Cuyahoga Community College, Cleveland, OH. Clyde leaves to cherish his memories his devoted wife of eighteen years, Ura Jean Bailey, Ph.D.; two sons, Clyde Edward Jr. (Sherri) of Columbia, Maryland and Adewale Oyemade, M.D., of Washington, DC; two grandchildren, Kerri and Cameron Bailey; two siblings, Jacquelyn Bailey Kidd of Petersburg, Virginia., and John Richard Bailey, Jr. (Brenda) of Charles City, Virginia; a host of nephews, nieces and cousins; and numerous friends and colleagues.
