Jon E. Huenemann is a Principal in the firm and is the Trade Policy Practice Group Coordinator. He has over 28 years of experience in global and domestic policy and the related law, politics and economics. He draws on nearly two decades of experience in government and nearly a decade in private practice along with the relationships he has developed around the world and in the U.S. to advise clients and execute strategies. He held leading positions over nearly 16 years, including Assistant U.S. Trade Representative where he was in the Senior Executive Service, at the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) within the Executive Office of the President. Prior to that he developed international economic policy in the Treasury Department, advised a senior Senator on the Finance Committee, led an analytical project on global development supported by the United Nations Development Program, and did research and analysis at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS). Mr. Huenemann serves on advisory boards and groups, including those relating to the Chilean American Chamber of Commerce, the Inter-American Dialogue and the Council of the Americas, and he is an Adjunct Fellow at CSIS. He was a visiting professor at George Washington University’s Graduate School of Business and Public Administration and has lectured in the U.S. and abroad, including at Georgetown University, George Mason University, Boalt Hall School of Law at the University of California, Berkeley, and the University of Georgia law school Dean Rusk Center. He is often in the press, has authored many scholarly articles, and is a regular speaker at events organized by industry, policy research institutions and government. Early in his career, he was nominated by The American University to participate in the Presidential Management Fellows Program for outstanding national scholars and was accepted following a national competition under the auspices of the federal government.
