Vivian Fei Tsen is an urban planner who has worked in the nonprofit, public and private realms. Ms. Tsen currently manages several real estate partnerships that hold a portfolio of commercial and residential properties. For over 23 years she was the president of Tsen & Associates, a real estate finance and development consulting firm. She was the Director of Real Estate for the Port of San Francisco, the Director of Redevelopment for the City of Emeryville and a Commissioner of the San Francisco Redevelopment Agency. Her expertise and leadership were critical in finalizing the design and financing for Yerba Buena Gardens in San Francisco and instrumental in the revitalization of Pier One and the Ferry Building along San Francisco’s Central waterfront. She is the Chairperson of Chinatown Community Development Center (CCDC), a nonprofit development organization that owns and manages 2,300 units of housing for low-income elderly and families. She is a Board member on the Executive Committees of SPUR and Greenbelt Alliance, two advocacy organizations dedicated to civic planning, regional smart growth and open space preservation. She has served on numerous Boards of Directors for arts and education organizations including the De Young Museum, the Legion of Honor and was the founding President of Zeum at Yerba Buena Gardens, a children’s art and technology center. She has taught urban planning and housing development courses at the University of California Berkeley. Most recently, Ms.Tsen was President of the Loeb Fellowship Council of Harvard University which gives fellowships to outstanding young designers and activists who make our cities more livable and our natural environments more sustainable. Ms. Tsen graduated with a BA. in Economics and a M.C.P. in Urban Planning from the University of California, Berkeley.
