Mr. Xiao Wunan was born in May 1964 in Beijing and received a Master’s degree and an Honorary Doctorate degree, who currently holds the following positions: Executive Vice Chairman, Asia Pacific Exchange and Cooperation Foundation International Chairman, Religion and Cooperation Organization, United Nations Vice Chairman, China Association of Social Economic and Cultural Exchange Senior Consultant, Oxford Economics, London Executive Director, the Board of the University of Haifa, Israel Senior Fellow, Claremont Graduate University, USA Visiting Professor, Dongguk University, South Korea Honorary Director, Research Center for Contemporary China, Peking University, China Senior Researcher, Center for US-China Relations, Tsinghua University, China Honorary Dean, Jianzhen Buddhism Institute, China In January 2005, Mr. Xiao was awarded a peace prize by the United Nations. Previous recipients of this prize include Nelson Mandela, former President of South Africa, Mikhail Gorbachev, former President of the Soviet Union, and Pope John Paul II. In 2006, Mr. Xiao was given an award by the South Korean Government due to his contributions to Sino-Korean exchange of Buddhist culture. In 2007, he won the “World Outstanding Chinese Award”. In 2008, the city government of Omaha, U.S.A. established a “Vice Chairman Xiao Wunan’s Day” in his honor. On May 13, 2012, on behalf of the US Congress, Ms. Judy Chu, the US Congresswoman and the Chairman of Congressional Asia Pacific American Caucus, presented the certificate of Congressional Recognition to Mr. Xiao Wunan. On Oct. 1st, 2012, he was presented with the" ICCC Citizen of the World " award by UN-Habitat at the UN headquarter in New York. Mr. Xiao is also a member of the editorial board of China's white paper on foreign trade and economic cooperation and the WTO Training Concise Textbook series. He is the Editor-in-Chief for Places of Interest of Buddhist Temples in China and Classic Characters of Buddhism in China, and the latter one has been collected by the U.S. Congress, Stanford University, and the Chinese University of Hong Kong. A lot of his academic work and commentaries have been published internationally.
