In the three years since Dave Roberts was elected to the San Diego County Board of Supervisors, he has earned a reputation for energetic leadership, collaboration and service to constituents. His support for improved public safety has earned him support from the Deputy Sheriffs and Probation Officers associations, Sheriff Bill Gore and District Attorney Bonnie Dumanis. His other legislative priorities include the County’s foster care and adoption services, domestic and child abuse, the groundbreaking Alzheimer’s Project, renewable energy alternatives and conservation and open space preservation. He has worked effectively with the other Board members to achieve a triple-A credit rating for the County, with a healthy reserve fund, no deferred maintenance and no new taxes. Dave brought experience from the public, private and nonprofit sectors to his position as the Third District Supervisor. Prior to his election, Dave completed two terms on the Solana Beach City Council and served as the city’s Mayor and Deputy Mayor. He began his public service as a Commissioner for the Solana Beach Budget and Finance Committee and Vice Chair for the Friends of the Solana Beach Library. Dave is a former corporate officer for SAIC, a Fortune 500 company. He also founded, owns and operates his own multi-state real estate management company and was a senior manager for the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society, an international nonprofit organization. In that role, Dave drew upon his background as an appointed health policy advisor in the Administrations of both President Barack Obama and former President George W. Bush. Dave also worked for the U.S. Air Force at the Pentagon and in Europe. He played a key role in developing TRICARE, the military's health insurance system. Dave currently serves as Vice Chair of the Board of Supervisors, 2nd Vice President of the California State Association of Counties, Chair of SANDAG’s Shoreline Preservation Committee and as immediate past Chair of the San Dieguito River Park Joint Powers Authority.
