Bachelor’s degree in history and literature from Harvard University, J.D. and MBA from Stanford University. Lives in Sacramento with wife Marjorie Solomon, an associate professor of clinical psychiatry and research scientist at UC Davis Health System who specializes in autism spectrum disorders. They have three sons: Jacob, Sam and Adam. Investment banker, Solomon Brothers, 1984 to 1991. Friedman returned to Sacramento in 1991 and formed Fulcrum, taking over his father’s business. Friedman became an investor in the Sacramento Kings and the leader of the arena project as the new ownership group was forming earlier this year. Lead owner Vivek Ranadivé contacted Friedman through a mutual friend and asked him about the best site for a new arena and how to pull it off. When potential ownership group member Ron Burkle had to drop out because of a conflict, Friedman said, he was tabbed to take his place. His achievements naturally will be compared to those of his late father, Mort Friedman, the legendary attorney, philanthropist and developer of Arden Fair.
