Jack Krumholtz

Jack Krumholtz is a Managing Director in the firm’s Government Affairs practice area. Krumholtz came to Glover Park with over two decades of experience representing corporate and other interests before Congress, the Administration, and independent agencies. For 14 years prior to joining The Glover Park Group, Krumholtz managed Microsoft’s federal government affairs program in Washington, D.C., serving as the company’s Managing Director of Federal Government Affairs and Associate General Counsel. Krumholtz opened the Microsoft federal government affairs office in March 1995, and oversaw the growth of that office to nearly twenty professionals. Krumholtz directed Microsoft’s federal government affairs activities in the Nation’s capital and served as a key architect of the company’s public policy and outreach programs at the federal level. In that capacity, he was named by The Hill newspaper as one of the top corporate lobbyists in Washington and called a “K Street legend” by Politico.com. Krumholtz and his office were responsible for developing and implementing outreach, advocacy, and political strategies to advance the perspective of Microsoft and the high technology sector on relevant public policy issues. Such issues included intellectual property rights, high-skilled immigration, competition in the software and online advertising industries, broadband, online privacy, and international trade. Krumholtz was also responsible for developing and managing Microsoft’s relationships with external groups based in Washington, D.C., including industry associations, think tanks, and other third-party influentials, to further the company’s policy objectives. He regularly represented Microsoft in public and with the media, and testified before Congress on Microsoft’s behalf on a number of issues including Internet censorship in China, bridging the digital divide and software piracy. He also managed the engagement of Microsoft senior executives, including Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates and Chief Executive Officer Steve Ballmer, with Members of Congress, Administration officials, and other policy elites in the Nation’s capital. Prior to joining Microsoft, Krumholtz was an attorney with the law firm of Verner, Liipfert, Bernhard, McPherson, and Hand in Washington, D.C., where he practiced in the legislative and government relations area. Krumholtz graduated, cum laude, from the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service in 1983. He received his J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School in 1986. Krumholtz is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia.
