Sister Joanne Callahan is an Ursuline Sister of Tildonk. She received her BA in Mathematics and her Master’s Degree in School Counseling from St. John’s University, and a Certificate of Advanced Educational Studies in Administration from Boston College. She holds Permanent New York State Certification as a teacher and Certification as School Administrator/Supervisor and School District Administrator. She was an elementary and high school teacher, high school Guidance Counselor and Principal before joining the Education Department of the Diocese of Rockville Centre. She became Director of Teacher Personnel in 1988, Director of Regional School Planning in 1990 and is the Superintendent of Schools since 1993. Sister Joanne is a member of the New York State Commissioner of Education’s Nonpublic School Advisory Committee. Sister received the Distinguished Alumnae Award from St. John’s University, the St. Catherine of Siena Medal from Molloy College and the Pro Ecclesia Medal from Pope Benedict XVI.
