Lisa Speer is director of NRDC's international oceans program in New York. Her expertise is in the area of management and conservation of biodiversity, fisheries, and ecosystems of the high seas and the Arctic marine environment. Lisa served on the National Academy of Sciences'(NAS) Board on Environmental Studies and Toxicology from 2001 to 2007 and has also served on NAS Committees on the Arctic and marine environmental monitoring. She has served on U.S. delegations to many high seas fisheries negotiations and testified before Congress and the United Nations on a variety of high seas and Arctic management topics. She received her master's degree from Yale University and her bachelor's degree from Mount Holyoke College.
