Heather White

Heather White, Executive Director of EWG, is a nationally-recognized expert on federal environmental law and policy and a campaign strategist with more than 15 years experience. She leads the legislative activities of EWG Action Fund, EWG’s related lobbying organization. White serves on the board of directors of EWG Action Fund and the Sewall-Belmont House & Museum.White served as EWG’s chief of staff and general counsel for three and a half years before being promoted to Executive Director in late 2012. Prior to joining EWG in 2009, White was the director of education advocacy at the National Wildlife Federation. White worked as counsel to U.S. Sen. Russell D. Feingold (D-Wis.) on energy and environmental issues from 2005 to 2003 and served as EWG’s general counsel from 2001 to 2003. In 2000, White was deputy director of women’s outreach for Vice President Al Gore’s Presidential Campaign. She served as a recount attorney during the contested Presidential election. Before joining the Gore campaign, she was an associate at the law firm of Bass, Berry & Sims in Nashville, Tennessee. White graduated magna cum laude from the University of Tennessee College of Law. She was an Echols Scholar at the University of Virginia, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in environmental science. While in undergraduate school, White spent a year studying conservation biology at the University of Dunedin in Otago, New Zealand.She is married to David Diamond, loves country music and playing in the backyard with their two elementary-school-age daughters.
