Scott A. Conking is head of Vanguard Retirement Plan Client Services, where he leads the full-service relationship team and Vanguard Strategic Retirement Consulting. Mr. Conking began his career at Vanguard in 1984 in the Investor Information Department. In 1986 he joined Vanguard Brokerage Services® (VBS®) and was named a principal during his VBS tenure. In 1995 Mr. Conking helped develop a new service for high-net-worth clients, known today as Vanguard Voyager Services®. He then moved to Information Technology, where he helped shape Vanguard’s first-generation website. Following that assignment, he headed Business Technology Planning, driving key technological initiatives for the Retail Investor Group, and then assumed responsibility for Vanguard University®, Vanguard’s training and development organization. He spent five years leading Vanguard Corporate Strategy Group. After this role, he was head of Vanguard Total Retirement Services, responsible for our defined contribution and defined benefit clients. Most recently, he was Vanguard's chief culture and diversity officer, leading its Best Place to Work initiatives. Mr. Conking earned a B.B.A. from Temple University and an M.B.A. from Villanova University.
