Philip Ragusa, the longtime chairman of the Queens County Republican Party, died Tuesday, June 24, 2014, after a battle with leukemia. He was 74. Ragusa, an accountant by trade, presided over some turbulent times in the party, including corruption charges lodged against other borough officials and concerted attempts to unseat him as head of the organization. Ragusa is survived by his wife, Nelly, and daughter, Stephanie.
