Based in New York City, Mayra is a creative entrepreneur whose 18-year career has focused on the fusion of strategic branding, design and sustainability. She is the Head of Corporate Responsibility of Grupo Financiero Banorte, the third largest financial institution in Mexico. Since 2009 she’s been responsible for finding opportunities for the bank to provide financial, social and environmental benefits while contributing to the organization’s growth. Prior to her current position, her unique vision-driven leadership style helped build long-term partnerships with global clients representing diverse industries, including NGOs. Mayra’s belief in the importance of giving back manifests itself in the combination of philanthropy and initiatives to inspire social innovation. Having Banorte as one of her clients, in 2004 she designed Mujer Banorte. This was the first program of its kind in Mexico to financially empower women. She has served on the Board of Fundación Origen, a non-profit that supports underprivileged women in Mexico, and has co-chaired several fundraising events in New York. Mayra was selected as part of the 2012 Class of the First Movers Fellowship Program of the Aspen Institute. She received a Special Studies Certificate in Administrative Science from Harvard University and a Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Design from Universidad Iberoamericana.
