Unger has worked as a public affairs consultant in the political, corporate and nonprofit arena for more than 30 years. She has been a partner in UT Strategies, Inc., where she represented municipal and corporate entities, and Unger/Thomas, where she represented state governors, U.S. senators and local elected officials. Unger is chair of the Planned Parenthood Advocacy Project and is on the boards of Planned Parenthood Los Angeles and the National Planned Parenthood Action Fund. She is a trustee of the UC Berkeley Foundation and vice president of the American Jewish Committee in Los Angeles. She also is a former president of the board of governors of the California Community Colleges. A native of Los Angeles, Unger received her BA from UC Berkeley in 1969. She and her husband, Leonard Unger, have two children and four grandchildren.
