Jim Mabie joined William Blair as a partner in 1983 after 13 years as a managing director with A.G. Becker. He has been in wealth and asset management during his entire career. Prior to Becker, Mabie spent 13 years in retail and women’s apparel with Marshall Field and Beeline Fashions. Mabie has extensive board experience, serving as a board trustee or director of Chicago Symphony Orchestra (past vice chairman); Lyric Opera of Chicago; WTTW Public Television; Hubbard Street Dance Chicago Advisory Board; The Cara Program; the Albert Pick, Jr. Fund; Chicago Workforce Investment Council; and the Chicago High School for the Arts (founding chairman), a Chicago Public School contract school. Mabie has served on the boards of WBEZ (past chairman), Old Town School of Folk Music (past chairman), Hubbard Street Dance Chicago (past president), Thresholds (past chairman), and Ravinia Festival Association. Mabie also has served as a trustee of the Village of Northfield, Illinois. Mabie earned his bachelor of arts degree from Williams College. Mabie will participate in the Fireside Chat:
