As Senior Vice President of Development for The Habitat Company, Thomas Black directs the planning, design and construction of new properties, as well as the ongoing renovation and upgrading of existing properties. This entails all aspects of development for new residential, retail and commercial properties, including market feasibility studies, building start-up and commissioning. With more than 30 years of experience in the industry, Mr. Black has developed some of The Habitat Company's more notable properties, including Kingsbury Plaza, 400 North LaSalle, Kinzie Park, Cityfront Place, Presidential Towers and The Oak Park Club. Before joining The Habitat Company, Mr. Black was an architect with Gordon-Levin and Associates handling the design and construction of many prominent Chicago buildings, including East Bank Club, Dearborn Park Highrise Condominiums, Huron Plaza and 400 East Ohio Condominiums. Mr. Black has a Bachelors of Science degree in Architecture from the University of Illinois at Chicago. He is also a licensed architect and a member of the American Institute of Architects and the Urban Land Institute.
