Gene Co joined Compass in 2008 as a Managing Director, with an extensive background on Wall Street in both mergers & acquisitions and corporate finance. He has advised large and small companies in the U.S. and Asia on mergers and acquisitions and corporate strategy, and has raised capital for clients from both public and private sources. Prior to Compass, Mr. Co worked as a senior advisory professional with Barnett & Partners. Mr. Co founded Georgetown Capital Group, LLC, an investment banking boutique that specializes in advising early-to-mid stage private companies on strategic planning, mergers and acquisitions and securing capital from strategic and financial investors. Previously, Mr. Co was a Vice President in the Mergers and Acquisitions Group of The Blackstone Group, specializing in corporate advisory and principal investment activities. Before joining Blackstone, Mr. Co was an Associate at Salomon Brothers Inc., where he completed a wide range of mergers and acquisitions transactions, as well as financings and strategic advisory assignments, for companies in the natural resources and chemicals sectors. Mr. Co was previously a Law Clerk to the Honorable J. Clifford Wallace, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Mr. Co is a graduate of Dartmouth College and the Harvard Law School and also attended the California Institute of Technology as a graduate student in chemistry.
