Manny V Pangilinan is the CEO and Managing Director of First Pacific Company Limited and the Chairman of Metro Pacific Investments Corporation, Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company (PLDT), Smart Communications, Incorporated, and Manila Electric Company (Meralco). Born in the Philippines in July 1946, Mr Pangilinan graduated cum laude in 1966 from the Ateneo de Manila University, the Philippines, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics. He received his MBA degree in 1968 from the Wharton School of Finance and Commerce at the University of Pennsylvania, where he was a Procter & Gamble Fellow. After graduating from Wharton, he worked in Manila for Philippine Investment Management Consultants Inc. (the PHINMA Group) and in Hong Kong with Bancom International Limited and American Express Bank, and thereafter with First Pacific Company Limited. Mr. Pangilinan also serves as Chairman of Beacon Electric Asset Holdings Incoprated, Metro Pacific Investments Corporation, Landco Pacific Corporation, Medical Doctors Incorporated, Colinas Verdes Corporation (operating the Makati Medical Center and Cardinal Santos Medical Center, respectively), Davao Doctors Incorporated, Riverside Medical Center Incorporated in BacolodCity, Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Asian Hospital, Incorporated, Maynilad Water Services Corporation (Maynilad), Mediaquest Incorporated, Associated Broadcasting Corporation (TV 5),Philex Mining Corporation, and Manila North Tollways Corporation.
