Herb B. Berkowitz was a fixture in Washington media circles for 25 years — not as a journalist, but as a “PR man.” Described by Public Relations Quarterly as one of “the most eagerly sought — and brilliantly skilled — PR executives who ever lived,” Berkowitz served as the top communications executive at The Heritage Foundation from 1977 until 2002. Berkowitz now serves as Managing Director of Proactive Solutions Public Relations, a firm founded by his daughter in 1999. The firm has offices in northern Virginia and Wilmington, N.C.
