Rachel was appointed to the President's Committee on the Arts and the Humanities, an advisory committee to the White House on cultural policy, by President Obama in 2009. Under her management, the Committee has facilitated over 5 million dollars of private investment in the arts and humanities, expanded two of its signature programs in education and cultural diplomacy, and launched three new national initiatives. Prior to her appointment, Rachel founded a documentary production company, directing two independent feature documentaries and working on productions for the Public Broadcasting Service, the Discovery Channel, the National Geographic Channel, and History. She also served as the Director of the Independent Digital Distribution Lab, a joint PBS/ITVS project. Before working in the arts, Rachel was an international copyright attorney with Gibson, Dunn and Crutcher and the U.S. Copyright Office. Rachel received her B.A. in English Literature and her J.D. from UCLA's School of Law. She is a member of the 2012 Class of Henry Crown Fellows at the Aspen Institute.
