Hemant Shah is co-founder, president and CEO of Risk Management Solutions (RMS), the world’s leading provider of research and model-based services to the insurance and financial services industry for the quantification and management of catastrophe risks. He also serves as a trustee of the University Corporation of Atmospheric Research in Boulder, Colorado and is on the board of overseers of the RAND Corporation’s Center for the Study of Terrorism and Risk Management Policy and their Institute for Civil Justice. In addition, he serves on the boards of St. John’s School of Risk Management and Actuarial Science; as well as the advisory board of Institutional Investors’ Journal of Risk Finance. Hemant has been named one of the “Leaders of the Future” by Global Reinsurance; one of “35 Rising Stars” by Business Insurance; and one of the “100 Insurance Industry Most Powerful–North America” by Insurance Newscast. He graduated from Stanford University with a BS in Civil Engineering (with honors) in 1988 and an MS in Engineering Management in 1989. He lives in San Francisco with his wife and two children. Hemant is a member of the 2006 class of Henry Crown Fellows at the Aspen Institute.
