From 1979 until he joined Miller & Chevalier in 1983, Mr. Bickwit served as General Counsel to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, where he had lead responsibility for Commission litigation and for legal advice regarding the agency’s adjudications, rulemakings and proposed legislation. From 1975 to 1979, Mr. Bickwit served as Chief Legislative Assistant to Senator John Glenn. Mr. Bickwit also served, from 1983 to 1984, as national issues director of Senator Glenn’s presidential campaign. From 1969 to 1974, Mr. Bickwit served as Counsel to the Subcommittee on the Environment of the U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, where he supervised staff support for Senator Philip Hart, the subcommittee chairman, and participated in the development of many of the principal pieces of environmental legislation of the 1970s.
