Sheila Ryan-Macie serves as chief of staff for Navient, where she is responsible for a variety of strategic projects to enhance customer experience and contribute to client and customer success. She also oversees the Office of the Customer Advocate. Previously, Sheila was senior vice president of operations administration and chief of staff for Sallie Mae. While with Sallie Mae, Sheila was responsible for creating and managing strategic and tactical plans for all facets of the organization. She played a leadership role in rolling out enhanced servicing and online tools as well as dedicated service to military customers and their families. Prior to rejoining Sallie Mae in 2011, Sheila worked with a variety of organizations committed to expanding educational access. She was managing director at Aurora Consulting, a firm that specialized in higher education finance, and vice president at America’s Charter School Finance Corporation. Sheila first joined Sallie Mae in 1999 upon the company’s acquisition of Nellie Mae where she was vice president of government relations and strategy. Sheila has a Bachelor of Science in education, a Master of Science in management, and a Master of Science in regulatory affairs, biotechnology, and pharmaceuticals. Sheila serves on the board and credit committee of Building Hope, a nonprofit organization that provides financing and technical support to charter schools.
