Elena Ford is first woman Ford family member to hold a significant position at the automaker. She is the daughter of Charlotte Ford and Greek shipping billionaire Stavros Niarchos, and the granddaughter of longtime company leader Henry Ford II. Ford has held a number of marketing and communications positions in the company and has been director, global marketing, sales and service operations since February 2009 -- responsible for implementing the company's "One Ford" marketing vision globally. She came to Ford in 1995 and previously had been a senior account executive for ad company Wells, Rich Greene. Ford was elected a company vice president and leader of the company's new Global Dealer and Consumer Experience organization, effective March 1 2013, the company said in a statement. She previously was director of the company's Global Marketing Operations and will continue to report to Jim Farley, the company's global marketing chief. The Ford family controls the automaker through 70.9 million Class B shares. Two family members, Bill Ford, 55, and Edsel Ford, 64, are directors. Bill Ford was also chief executive officer from 2001 until 2006, when he yielded the post to Alan Mulally, 67.
