Mr. Nathaniel Glover began his tenure as the 29th President of Edward Waters College (EWC) on May 17, 2010 after being appointed interim president. After nine months of service, the EWC Board of Trustees appointed him as the permanent president on February 12, 2011. Upon his graduation from Edward Waters College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Social Science in 1966, Glover began his career in law enforcement. Several years later, he went on to earn a Master of Education degree from the University of North Florida. In 1969, President Glover began his ascension into leadership by becoming an investigator in the Detective Division. Five years later, he was promoted to Sergeant and headed the Police Hostage Negotiation Team, one of the first hostage negotiation teams in the country, from 1975 to 1986. From 1986 to 1988, Glover served as Chief of Services, and was then appointed as Deputy Director of Police Services. Three years later he was named Director, which was one of the top three positions in the entire Department. On April 11, 1995, President Glover made history by being elected as the first African-American sheriff Jacksonville had seen in more than 100 years.
